Genre - narrative

The social realism genre focuses in on specific issues within a society. To come up with the key aspects of our teaser trailer we first created a narrative arc and a story board in order
The storyboard enabled us to highlight where we could bring in key theories in order to meet the conventions of the genre. To create a successful teaser trailer we didn't want to give away the full narrative however we were able to generate the new equilibrium shown when Grace comes upon the realisation that the attack was not her fault. This decision was made to show off the resolution from our series arc.
Our piece featured a slow non-diegetic soundtrack that wouldn't be in keeping with an action film or more suspense filled piece like our AS film opening and therefore by coming up with our narrative we were able to make a clear comparison to other pieces under this genre to help us choose what clips we used in our teaser. Under the genre of British social realism, we needed to show a gritty, real viewing of the issue we had focused in on and therefore the trailer starts and is made up mainly of clips from the inciting incident and the climax (seen through symbolism of cutting up a pomegranate to symbolise the slitting of wrists and fertility).
